History

Chesterbrook United Methodist Church was organized in 1906 and our present sanctuary was built in 1920.  At the time, the Chesterbrook, McLean, and Potomac River area of Fairfax County was largely rural, and so was the congregation.  After World War II, this area became increasingly suburban and Chesterbrook UMC grew to over 500 members by the 1960s.   Today, with about 100 members, Chesterbrook Church is a blend of its rural origins and recent developments in modern ministry.  It is at once a touch of traditional Americana and a center of ministry in a community of nationally- and internationally- focused government, military, educational and religious people, families and organizations.
